Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl

Some things I learned visiting Mexico City 26 times since 1991. There are more varieties of pine trees in Mexico than anywhere else on earth. The geography fairly close to the equator combined with extremes in elevation change make for everything. From 5400 meter glacier capped volcanoes: Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl visible from Mexico City, to sea level. The City itself is 7400 feet in elevation. The variety of edible food in that environment is incomprehensibly vast, and with ancient food cultural traditions combined with European cuisine for 500 years of blending since the conquest resulting in mestizo people and mestizo cuisine, it’s the best on earth. What we get in Mexican restaurants in the US is a very narrow sample of the Mexican spectrum. Glad to see it improving though, here in the US and in Russia. There are some cases of reasonably decent Mexican food in Sweden too. I mean, I say that with a huge dose of hope for the future
