We don’t have state-owned media in the United States. We have a free press, led by venerable papers, some of which are institutions unto themselves, like The Washington Post.
But today we see this:
“The oligarch who owns the Washington Post has CIA contracts worth at least twice what he paid to buy the Washington Post”
… from an article by David Swanson in CounterPunch titled “The CIA Never Lies“.
I follow tech so I remember the big news back in summer 2014: The Details About the CIA’s Deal With Amazon “A $600 million computing cloud built by an outside company is a “radical departure” for the risk-averse intelligence community” ( theatlantic.com), with Amazon Web Services (AWS) beating out other long trusted national security technology partners for that prestigious contract.
From the Atlantic article:
“The intelligence community is about to get the equivalent of an adrenaline shot to the chest. This summer, a $600 million computing cloud developed by Amazon Web Services for the Central Intelligence Agency over the past year will begin servicing all 17 agencies that make up the intelligence community.”
Do you feel that kick in your gut? The sucker punch? Takes your breath away?
The CIA, which can be and has been described as an organization of war-mongering professional liars, effectively and essentially, owns the Washington Post.
